While many things may come and go, nothing will change the thrill people feel when they get their hands on their first vehicle. Whether it's a sensible hand-me-down hatchback or the first taste of the performance car lifestyle, a young person's car is subjected to all manner of testing situations.

For the excitable new car owner, preserving the state of their investment is probably the last thing on their mind. We can excuse thoughts of long freeing road trips with mates and late night trips to Macca's, but not without the proper protection for a vehicle's interior. The small cost of car seat covers at the beginning of your vehicle ownership can ensure the vehicle is still in showroom condition when it's time to sell it on.

More young people looking to get behind the wheel

A recent survey from Nielsen found that younger drivers are still keen to get their hands on their own vehicle. However, there's one major difference between this group of future motorists and current car owners.

According to Nielsen, the next generation of motorists are just as interested in what a self driving car can offer them than they are in regular vehicles. The survey revealed that while half of people in their teens are willing to pilot their own vehicles, this proportion drops significantly for people still making their way through primary school.

Almost half (46 per cent) of this latter group want a car that will be able to drive itself. However, with Google's efforts running into trouble recently, this is unlikely to be a concern in the near future.

Whether the youth of the future are driving their own cars or riding shotgun to a computer controlled chauffeur, they'll still need car seat covers to keep their vehicles in the best possible condition.
